Well, I used a lot of the suggestions that came my way from that post the other day! I was pretty pleased with the turnout of readers for that question, I must admit. I guess it's because you hear a lot that people don't give a darn about history in this country, if depressing yearly polls from the Dominion Institute mean anything, but it's clearly not the case among my livejournal followers. You guys are great!

I had to do a general sweep that involved a good range of places, professions, backgrounds and time periods, so you know, not everyone's favorite author is going to be in there but I sure did like the range in suggestions. Looking at it now I wish I had someone from the NWT (not one! for shame) and New Brunswick. Stompin Tom is from New Brunswick but he's also sort of from everywhere.  I could have put the Irvings in there, I think they control history in NB as well as anything else.

I was all crazed out with strep throat while I did this, but listening to Radiolab shows and a burning passion for Canada I guess(?) kept me going.  You can find the image in today's National Post, along with an article about the Historica/Dominion merger! Interesting stuff.

Hai guys!

I haven't posted in a bit so here I am!

So... 43 days until I leave the country for a good 6 months...  O.o  That is so totally bizarre to me.  I don't even know how I'm going to manage this.  I have precisely two days between end of semester and then flight out of Detroit to Germany in order to pile all my crap together and pack and... oh Lordy...  Anywho, I booked my flight from Germany to Spain today and I'm a teensy bit nervous because it's rather complex and involves getting from Freiburg to Stuttgart via train (4 hrs) and then from Stuttgart to Palma de Mallorca via plane (3 hrs) and then Mallorca to Valencia (1 hr) and then if my host family isn't ready for me, I get to go to a hostel for the night in Valencia.

Aside from my constant planning on this study abroad trip (which is beginning to absorb my life force, srsly), I've been particularly busy today and accomplished a lot!  I got a flu shot (finally), I turned in all my paperwork and got my courses approved for Spain, I ordered a new AC adapter for my computer because mine quite literally snapped in half and thus my poor computer is dead X_x because I can't charge it. 

Also I successfully navigated hell week and got a 3.5 on my one midterm and I'm still waiting to hear back on the other. 

I feel like there was something else I was going to write but I don't remember what it was now so I guess it wasn't that important.  I'll post later if it comes to me, lol.

The empire strikes back

In recent weeks, we've taken huge steps towards blocking spam accounts on LiveJournal. In fact, we've suspended as many as 30,000 accounts in a single day! We've implemented several pre-emptive measures to prevent the creation of spam accounts, and we've honed our detection of suspicious content. Spam bots are a crafty lot, so we'll continue to refine our tactics and keep up the good fight to keep you safe from spam attacks on LiveJournal.

RSS feeds again

If you're addicted to xkcd_rss, icanhaschzbrgr, or other syndicated feeds, we're pleased to report that we've resolved the update error that was mucking up your RSS feeds. While content was being pulled correctly, it wasn't being posted to the feeds themselves. Late last week, we finally nailed down what we hope was the root problem, so content should post properly. We thank you for your patience.
