Augh, more boredom leading me to create melodramatic things. I actually did a fanmix for Flowers in the Attic and Petals on the Wind, the first two novels of V.C. Andrews' Dollanganger series. Her books are easily my hugest guilty pleasure when it comes to lit, though I tend to enjoy only the novels she wrote herself. Her ghostwriter is kind of...eh.
Hee, reading these books at twelve probably damaged my brain. Though, they gave me some of my first ideas about fully fleshed out characters and their interactions. So any screwed up family dynamic in anything I write is probably thanks to V.C...... (but, hey, at least I don't write incest, heh).

Normally, I'd be loathe to include an Evanescence song because while I love Amy Lee's voice, their songs are always just a bit too heavy with the melodrama. This song, however, was too perfect not to include.

They were a troubling match, but Julian was probably the only person Cathy ever met as hell bent on revenge as she was. Of course, by the time she realized that, he was dead.

Cathy has loved and lost three men (Paul, Julian, Bart). She's sacrificed for and contemplated revenge for years and finally acheived it, but it's left her a little hardened. She and Chris have lost their childhood. They lost their little brother to a mother who willingly poisoned them all. They lost their little sister to suicide years later.
Finally, they set about making a quiet life for themselves together, posing as husband and wife so Cathy's two little boys can have a stepfather.

Hee, somehow finding pics for the graphics was the hardest part. It's so hard to find people who look enough right for Chris and Cathy.
Seriously, the first time I heard that song, the first book was all I could think about it. I wonder if the allusions are deliberate and the band knows the book? Not sure.
